Press release:

Karlsbad – Which German small and medium-sized companies offer
their employees the most attractive working conditions? Top Job, the
employer benchmarking competition organised by compamedia, has
been providing the answer to this question since 2002. And this year,
for a second time, Herrmann Ultraschalltechnik GmbH & Co. KG is
among the companies winning an award. The Institute for Leadership
and Human Resource Management at the University of St. Gallen conducted
extensive interviews with each candidate's employees and human
resources management teams. As patron of the corporate competition,
Wolfgang Clement will be presenting all the winners with the Top
Job seal of approval at the Duisburg-Nord Industrial Landscape Park on
31 January.

Herrmann Ultraschalltechnik GmbH, a manufacturer of ultrasonic welding
equipment, has been recognised as one of Germany's top employers for a
second time, scoring particularly highly in the Staff Development & Prospects
category. The company's management has introduced a systematic training
programme for the entire workforce "We offer each and every employee the
opportunity to undertake further individual training," commented CEO Arnold
Schneider. As a result, each new recruit is given a 100-day training plan to
enable him/her to be inducted into the company and to acquire further skills.

The Karlsbad-based firm also provides its 190 employees with continuing
education throughout the year in its very own academy, where there are 60
different training courses to choose from. A special feature of the Herrmann
Academy is that a third of the company's employees act as instructors,
meaning that specialist knowledge from all areas of the company is shared
and communicated. However the family business, which was founded in
1961, also hires external coaches. "In spite of the company's size, the atmosphere
is friendly and informal. Employees are given a lot of encouragement
and additional training, and achievements are always recognised," affirmed
Jörg Springer, team leader in the Design division.

"The Top Job award is an honour and a spur to greater things, both for me
and my co-workers," said CEO Thomas Herrmann. "We have achieved a
great deal together already, with regard to creating a pleasant and motivating
working environment. The award and the findings from the extensive analysis
of our personnel strategy will give us fresh impetus to continue further down
this successful path."
